Midnight Blue, Vol. 4: Freaks & Geeks

Blue Underground has put together a solid package for a difficult title with their edition of . The video transfer is taken from the original tapes; the show was shot in a lo-fi manner on basic video equipment so it could never really look great, but this DVD does a solid job making the material look as good as it can. The audio is mono and, despite some occasional dodgy recording conditions, sounds fine. In terms of extras, the disc offers a single bonus in the form of an optional trivia track. Thankfully, this is an excellent extra that offers some intriguing tidbits along with a lot of funny observations of the onscreen action. The package is rounded out with some amusing animated menus that feature the amusing canned music used on the show. All in all, this is a solid disc for the fan.
