She was named Kore by her mother, Demeter, the goddess of the grain. She spends her days tending to her mother's gardens and being the ideal daughter for her mother until the day the earth opens up to swallow her whole. Hades has been given a command by his brother and King to marry when he only wants to rule the Underworld alone.
