A garden goal changes how much football actually gets played. Without one, practice means finding a wall or making do with jumpers with one, a child can take shots for an hour without anyone else being involved. At 8 by 6 feet this sits between a toy and a full-size goal, big enough to make saves interesting but small enough for an ordinary lawn. The frame is Upvc, chosen because a garden goal lives outdoors and steel rusts. It stands up to rain and sun through a full season, so it can stay pitched rather than being taken down after every game. Ground stakes anchor it into grass, which stops the frame walking backwards under repeated shots, and at 17.5 pounds one person can move it when the lawn needs cutting.Five cones come in the box, which turns the setup into more than target practice: dribbling lanes, agility ladders and shooting angles can all be marked out in seconds. Parts are marked and instructions included, so assembly follows a clear order. Adult setup is required, the goal should be staked before play, and nobody should climb or hang on the frame.
