The reason most home treadmills end up as clothes racks is that using one means giving up an hour to nothing but running. This one removes that trade-off with an acrylic desk that sits over the belt, so a laptop, a book or a tablet comes along at walking pace and a morning of email turns into a few miles. The desk lifts off entirely when the session is a real run, and the machine covers three speed ranges to suit each mode: 0.5 to 1.5 mph for walking, up to 4 mph for jogging, and up to 7.5 mph for running.Underneath, a 2.5HP brushless motor stays below 45 dB, quiet enough for a flat or a shared house, and a 7-layer diamond-textured belt measuring 41 in x 16 in runs over four rubber shock-absorbing pads to take the impact out of each stride. Twelve preset programs and three countdown modes cover structured sessions, with time from 5 to 99 minutes and distance from 1 to 99 miles tracked on the Lcd along with calories and speed. A pause function holds the data for a water break and a restart button clears it. A Bluetooth speaker, a retractable device clip, a remote control, a safety key and two lubricants are included. It carries 220 lbs and folds down for storage.
