Thirty-five inches is wide enough for two people to sit at once, which changes what a shoe bench is for. In a household where everyone leaves at the same time, a bench that seats one becomes a queue, and the second person ends up standing on one leg in the doorway. The extra width removes that entirely. The bench top carries 286 lb, well beyond two adults, and that rating is what makes it genuine seating rather than a shelf at knee height. Underneath, two shelves rated to 22 lb each hold the shoes, so the floor stays clear and everything that comes off at the door has somewhere to go. Bamboo is the right material for an entryway because it handles the damp that wet shoes and umbrellas bring in far better than most timber, and it stays light. The bench measures 11.3 in deep and stands 17.8 in tall, a shallow footprint at correct seat height, and the assembled weight is only 10.3 lb. That combination of a 35.4 in bench weighing barely ten pounds is what makes it easy to lift aside when the hallway floor needs cleaning.
