Alzheimer's has become the "A" word, hidden by fear, denied by family members, and basically presenting the image of long, hard, stressful care. This book does not deny the years of Alzheimer decline, the difficulties or the stress. What it does is offer the caregiver many creative approaches for diminishing the negative aspects of the disease and help ease the day-to-day problems as they occur. Unlike other books on the subject that explain what to do, this book explains how. Questions such as "I want to go home", "Where's my wife/husband/sister," "Who are you?" will arise. Thoughtful solutions to these and many other situations help the caregiver remain loving, patient, and empathetic. Repetition becomes more acceptable; food problems are more readily solved and in-home care more tolerable. "Marshall's Journey" offers a far deeper understanding of Alzheimer's disease and the necessary care of the patient/loved one who is afflicted.
