“Every blade of grass, every insect, ant, and golden bee, all so amazingly know their path;
though they have not intelligence, they bear witness to the mystery of God.”
Fyodor Dostoevsky
Many years ago we gave the great English calligrapher and illustrator Marie Angel a selection of quotations. They were all of spiritual import. She studied them and finally selected this small group, saying, “I see these. I can find visuals for these, and I can make the words fit within them.” We are proud to present her resultant exquisite paintings as a series of inspirational greeting cards. The images reflect Angel’s unique ability to capture the power and beauty of the natural world in a reflective, tranquil tone. The accompanying quotations – rendered in Angel’s lovely calligraphy as an integral part of the each image – are from a diverse group of authors familiar and less so including Walt Whitman, John Dryden, Christina Rossetti, and Dostoyevsky.
