Current computers are based on a layered structure. The model is extremely successful. However there are some drawbacks inherent to the framework. This work proposes four new theoretical improvements to the current paradigm based on new computer architectures. The four theoretical model are called Layer Fusion, Layer Disruption, Layer Compression, and Layer Encapsulation. Each of the new proposals presents benefits compared to the standard design. Layer disruption is implemented as a proof of concepts. The test case is based on multi- core architectures. The impact of the improvement is measured. Some of the conclusions obtained from the measurement are used to propose a new approach to the way end-user applications interact to multi-core systems. Quality of service in operating systems is introduced as a new concept. The potential impact of the work is explored based on its applications in the computing spectrum. Future development of the presented framework is open ended and may be influential based on the recent introduction of multi-core microprocessors.
