Against her better judgement, Maggie Coulter is coerced into marrying a childhood friend. She goes along with the proposed marriage until she reaches the groom on her wedding day. She then realizes no happiness will ever come from this union and runs. In her panic she flees and ends up in Grand Falls, and decides to stay the night. An unexpected change in circumstance entices her to stay longer. Tucker Smith returns to his home town after his estranged father's death. A falling out with his father forced him to leave town, something he has since regretted. He plans to make things right, but in the process meets Maggie.
