Long Hill in Bloomington, MN

Long Hill is a hidden gem, located in Beverly, Massachusetts. The property was donated to the to the Trustees of the Reservation in 1979 by the Sedgwick family. Several of the poems in this book were inspired by my wanderings through the gardens that surround the main house. The gardens are called "rooms" and each "room" has it's own distinct vibe.
Long Hill was purchased by Ellery Sedgwick and Mabel Cabot Sedgwick in 1916. Mabel was an author and horticulturalist who began the process of transforming the property into what it is today. Her work continued after her passing with Ellery's second wife, Marjorie in collaboration with Arnold's Arboretum in Jamaica Plain. Ellery was an editor for the Atlantic Monthly.
