L'Illustration en majeste: L'edition Curmer de Paul et Virginie et La Chaumiere indienne

This work deals with the dialogue between text and illustration in Curmer's Paul et Virginie (1838). Furthermore, it examines the contribution of the idyll's iconographic tradition, as well as the impact of contemporary experiments of optic illusionism on form and disposition of the illustrations.
