Liliana's Fan

A young adult fantasy with mysteries and twists that will both enthrall and surprise young readers. Liliana had always been interested in exploring the forest near her home, but her parents had said that she was too young to venture there. Now, at twelve years of age, she believes that she is old enough to explore the mysteries of the forest. She feels confident that even if she goes alone, her bamboo fan that her mother gave her would help guide her. Then, she finds out that her mother is ill and has gone away to be treated. She feels strongly that the illness is related to something that Liliana would find in the forest. What has made her mother ill? Where is she currently being treated? What mysteries lie in the forest? To make things worse, her best friend, Kathy, has been acting weird lately, and Liliana has been having trouble relating to her or anyone else at school. Also, Kathy's mother and Liliana's father have been seeing a lot of each other without her mother's knowledge. What was going on between them? Did this have anything to do with Kathy's strange behavior? Meanwhile, a man named Stan Flowers has taken a specific interest in both Liliana and her mother. He knows much of what is happening and wants to keep a close eye on it, but Liliana has no idea that he's watching. What is his connection in all of this? Slowly, Liliana begins to uncover information, partly by discovering a magnificent and magical tree in the forest that she knows is the center of the mysteries. She also realizes that her fan plays an important role, but she is still unsure how. As her mother becomes more and more ill, Liliana must find out what ails her mother and possibly help heal her. She alsowants to discover the mystery of her heritage, which is mixed into everything that is happening... But time is running short. Will Liliana solve the mysteries and act upon these discoveries before it's too late?
