I was praying about how I could explain biblical love in a manner which young men would understand. I had four young men in particular in mind - my sons, Adam and Jack, my step-daughter Beth's boyfriend (now husband), Josh, and my step-son, Joe. Too many studies in biblical love give one a sickly-sweet feeling; a feminized feeling, which has done so much to discourage young men from the Gospel. When I came across John's epistles in my personal devotions, I realized that they had the message I wanted to impart, even though I had studied the epistles so many times before. They became very fresh, as I wrote a series of letters to these four young adult men.It was a privilege to share with these guys, and I hope you understand the intensely personal nature of these letters. In some cases, I refer to personal issues - though I have edited the letters to take out anything confidential. As you read these letters on biblical manhood and biblical love, I hope that you will be blessed.
