The book of Hebrews is a letter of encouragement to Jewish Christians during trying times. The author is unknown and the audience is also unknown, most likely Jewish Christians in Jerusalem. The early Church took the assumption that this book was written by the Apostle Paul but most modern day scholars agree that it is not because of its different style. Although the writing is written in a masculine tone in Greek, many have believed that Priscilla, a devoted Christian and teacher in Rome, may have been the author. The book of Hebrews preaches a message that Jesus was the Son of God and was ordained as a heavenly high priest and mediator between God and man. Imagery of the old Tabernacle and Temple and the contents and rituals of them are taught as being shadows or reflections of the true heavenly Temple of God where Jesus sits at the right hand of the Almighty Father.
