For the leader, the end of this book is self-evident. For that reason, the author chose to "bury the lede" under the last chapter. By doing so, those who would-be leaders, but have not yet crossed that threshold, will be prepared for what they shall learn. All too often, the con-artist will call upon you to place your ego above the evidence of your eyes and experience. For those who need examples, that's was the basis for Hans Christian Andersen's story, "The Emperor's New Clothes," first published on 7 April 1837. That was the same year Karl Marx wrote a letter to his father which opened with the words: "There are life-moments that, like border markers, stand before an expiring time while at the same time clearly pointing out a new direction." True leaders understand the changes and identify those which are beneficial to all. The false leader sees only today's benefit to themselves; they are oblivious to the effect on others or even how they will be affected tomorrow. When it blows up in their face, they are the first to blame "the other." Lipton presents the lessons from the viewpoint of someone who was there -- someone who promotes individuals to the leadership level they desire. There is a point in the book where he references the cover...challenges you to understand what it is telling you... but he leaves it to you to find the "cheat"... and to explain when three pieces are different but are part of the sixteen on the side depicted. Observe, think, learn...LEADERSHIP belongs to those who demonstrate the appropriate level of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding within a caring and loving environment or mindset. We are at a point of historic transition, a time when the fate of cultures shall be determined. It is a point in history when traditions will come to an end -- where religious beliefs and superstitions will come to an end.
