Before the title puts visions of or in potential listeners heads, think instead of the starkness of 's , possibly mixed with a little of the home-recording of . is a solo recording by of Switzerland's -punks , much more along the lines of the confessional, largely acoustic material on their first two albums than their noisier, -oriented later work. If anything, however, it's even more stripped down than 's quiet takes on -style , with many songs featuring just and his guitar, with a hint of distant electric organ the only musical coloration. Luckily, these are likely the strongest songs of 's career, with an emotional directness that's balanced by the simple, -like strength of his melodies. ~ Stewart Mason
