: Kit is a young man who is trying to find success as a trader on a Spanish trading vessel plying between the Canaries and the west African coast. "Trading" includes the dangerous game of smuggling. Kit is pursuing and being pursued by two women—one who would be good for him, and one almost certainly not! Just how much luck Kit has in this whole operation is not at all clear.
