Jewish life has flourished again in Germany. However, reports of anti-Semitic resentment, propaganda, actions and attacks, which often come from the Muslim side, are disturbing. Anti-Jewish and anti-Israeli attitudes, which are acceptable in large parts of the Islamic world, are spilling over into Germany and are also being deliberately nurtured and built up here. What is behind this? What role does Islam ultimately play in this? And how does this hostility fit in with the great closeness that Judaism and Islam have theologically, ritually and in everyday religious matters? Rita Breuer studied Islamic studies and economics and worked for many years in development cooperation with Muslim countries. With a focus on theology, interreligious relations, gender issues and political Islam, she researches, teaches and publishes on questions of Islam in the present.
