Excerpt from Journal of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, Vol. 4 The termination of another volume of the Journal of Phar macy, naturally leads us to express our thanks to those by whose exertions it has been maintained. The fate of periodi cal publications in the United States, with very few exceptions, has been unfortunate, however important may have been their subject matter, or however ably they may have been conducted. The best known, and most certainly not the least valuable of those devoted to science and the arts, has only preserved its existence through the strenuous and indefatigable exertions ofits editor. The present publication has not been exempt from those difficulties, and its continuance must depend on the pecuniary support it receives. This, hitherto, has been merely sufficient to enable us to publish it at the regular pe riods, without, as has been ardently hoped, increasing the number of its pages and illustrations.
