Jose Dario Gallegos: Merchant of the San Luis Valley in Bloomington, MN

Jose Dario Gallegos was born near Taos in 1830, the son of a merchant. He moved north into Colorado, leading the establishment of settlement of San Luis de Culebra in 1851. The town of San Luis is Colorado's oldest, and Dario established the first store in the San Luis Valley. The store has been in continuous operation since 1857. This is part of the
