Ellen, a young woman who has just graduated from college, insists on traveling from New York to Poland to meet her grandparents just as the winds of war begin. This is an epic saga of a young woman's struggle to survive as the horrors of Word War II follow her across Europe, the Taiga of Siberia, Central Asia and finally, as she is able to come back home. It's a coming of age story during the worst of times as Ellen will suffer the evils of mankind and the horrors of being alone in a strange world where little mercy is to be found. Ellen is both betrayed and her trust misplaced as her plight grows darker and darker with no hope in sight. Only thru an enormous will to go on and survive, will she ultimately make her way back home. There awaiting her is a surprise that she is completely unprepared for.
