John Whitman has lost everything. Everything but his life, his pride, and an impossible load of debt. He's been booted out of the Navy through no fault of his own. His late wife cleaned out his bank accounts, including his tax savings account, loaded up with debt, then managed to get herself killed. So the banker took all of his belongings and wants a lot more. The IRS isn't happy with his inability to pay a lot of money he doesn't have.
