I Used to Be

Fly in, give the incoming First Kid his tour of the White House on Inauguration Day, and fly home. Simple. Frannie used to be the First Kid. It's a title she traded in a few years back, when she met the prince of a Baltic-island nation at one of her father's state dinners, and later married him. Now she's a pregnant princess, stuck in the walls of the White House with a ten-year-old they call 'Kickstand', because he freezes at the first sign of trouble. She realizes the US has traitors on the inside as she and the boy sneak through halls and tunnels to make their escape. Now instead of just having to worry about avoiding the American enemy, she has to worry about avoiding the Americans altogether. She takes the boy and flees the country, calling in favors amongst other countries' leaders, hoping she doesn't stumble straight into the enemy hands she's trying to evade. Unbeknownst to Frannie, her ex-president father finds himself swept into solving the mystery of who is behind the attack. The newest President struggles to hold his position as a series of attacks unleashes across the country. Pressure mounts in the aftermath to find both the First Son and the Princess, before they're caught in the crossfire.
