Household Gods, written by Crowley in Italy in 1911, is one of his most erotic books. He called it a comedy. Crowley became a cult hero during the sex and drugs culture of the late 1960s and early 70s. Most notably, Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page purchased his former estate and lived there for twenty-one years (it is featured in the film The Song Remains the Same). Crowley's likeness is on the cover of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper album, he is the subject of a song by Ozzy Osbourne, and is referenced in David Bowie's song "Quicksand."
