Lizzy has had a rough life, having lost her father when she was only a toddler, only to have her mother fall in love with and marry an abusive man. She has been beaten within an inch of her life, called every name in the book, and almost raped. After finally getting away from the man who is most likely guilty of her mother's brutal murder, she runs until she can run no more, and winds up smack dab in the middle of what she believes to be her worst nightmare. Having to rely on a stranger who frightens and confuses her, for her very safety. If only she didn't find herself so drawn to the big rancher who seems to need her almost as much as she needs him. Can these two find a way to help each other through the nightmare that they find themselves in? Will Sam be able to protect Lizzy any better than he had been able to protect the last woman he found himself attracted to? The biggest question yet....
