Everyone in the family has a lot to learn when the seriously ill baby Pearl comes home. Even though taking care of his sister is difficult, Jacob wants to help her in any way he can. In fact, he turns out to the one who is best at soothing little Pearl. He knows how to stroke her head and sing to her more softly than anyone. The big brother wants to take Pearl with him to all the important events at school. “I don’t mind if the other children have never seen a baby like Pearl. I can explain to them what she’s like,” Jacob says. Veli haluaa, että Helmi otetaan mukaan koulun tärkeisiin tapahtumiin. – Ei minua haittaa, vaikka muut eivät olisi koskaan nähneet sellaista vauvaa kuin Helmi. Minä voin kyllä selittää, Jaakko sanoo. Kesän lämpö ja tuoksut hellivät koko perhettä, myös pikku-Helmiä.
