After losing a younger brother to suicide in 1998, Dianne dedicated herself to learning all she could in order to save others from losing loved ones. This book contains many of the insights that Dianne has gained during the following 16 years both professionally and personally. As Christians, we have the greatest source of help available to us. The Bible is filled with wisdom on how we can free ourselves from the pains and wounds of the past, and live fulfilling lives. Dianne draws heavily on the Scriptures, opinions of experts, and her work in mental health to provide a clear understanding of the keys that lead to improved mental health.
Losing a loved one to suicide is a tragedy that no family member or friend should have to endure. Sadly, it is becoming an all too common occurrence in today's world, leaving a lasting impact on those left behind. The ABS data (ABS, Causes of death, 2009) reports deaths due to suicide at 2,132. In 2020, the latest data available, this increased to 3,139 deaths due to suicide (2,384 males and 755 females). In comparison, in 2020 there were 1,163 people who died from a motor vehicle accident (870 males and 293 females).
Dianne runs her own business, Healthy Hearts Healthy Minds, where she is dedicated to helping to improve the health and wellbeing of others. Dianne conducted Standard Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses since 2006 to 2017, with the addition of Youth MHFA in 2007. She was accredited as a Principal Master Instructor in 2010, and Teen MHFA in 2014.
Dianne has completed a Graduate Certificate in Counselling & Family Therapy, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Christian Ministry and Theology. She has her Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and was also a Casual teacher at Granville TAFE where she has taught Cert IV in Mental Health, as well as Mental Health First Aid. Dianne has held various roles in Social Welfare.
