It only takes one person to make a connection, and that one connection to help save a life.
I woke from a dream. drenched in sweat, screaming, "HELP" at the top of my lungs.
I was 45 - and I was done!
I'd spent my life feeling like I didn't "fit" in this world.
Addictions, self-harm, jumping from one relationship, job, city to the next. If it was unhealthy, I was drawn to it like a magnet!
Then at 38, I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
Those "labels" connected the dots. My behaviors, actions, and reactions now made sense. Still, they brought no relief to the intense loneliness or emptiness - and eventually added to the pain through their stigma.
Shortly after that dream, I stumbled upon the story of a stranger online, which saw me curled up on the floor in a ball of uncontrollable tears.
Finally! I found someone else who "got it".
For the first time, I didn't feel alone, invisible - or bat shit crazy.
It only takes one...
That stranger happened to be an Anxiety Coach - who ended up teaching me the most important lesson I have ever learned:
How to save myself - by healing my heart.
Since then, writing and poetry have been an outlet for me to express the wide array of emotions and feelings that surface while healing:
Hurt, grief, loneliness, rage, happiness, confusion, frustration, shame, excitement, sadness, fear. and HOPE!
Let me take you on a poetic journey through the peaks and valleys of a healing process marked by unresolved trauma, grief, low self-worth - and openly share the vulnerability we often fear, but which is key for opening up our hearts to the forgiveness. compassion, and acceptance we need to heal.
Because healing
IS
a heart thing!
