In the spring of 1839, as winter's grasp on Bear River begins to loosen, "Grizzly Killer" Zach Connors and his companions are preparing for their annual migration to the high meadow for summer. However, when an urgent plea arrives from old friends in a Bannock village, seeking the renowned Shoshone Medicine Woman, Raven Wing, answering the call means delaying their river journey. As spring ushers in new beginnings, it also resurrects old adversaries in Grizzly Killer's territory when a band of Gros Ventre warriors target his life in a fierce struggle for survival. With the help of his loyal companion, Jimbo's half-wolf offspring, Zach vows to retaliate with a fight for the lives of everyone he loves.
