, the leader of , is an excellent guitarist with a style sometimes hinting at early . His brand of crossover music has catchy melodies, danceable rhythms and concise solos. has short spots for three different crossover saxophonists ( , and ) but the focus is mostly on the leader and the appealing ensembles. While 's individual originals are not particularly memorable, his music is accessible and works well both as background music and for dancers. ~ Scott Yanow
