Gipfeltreffen in der Vormoderne: Der Bonner Vertrag 921 in synchroner und diachroner Perspektive in Bloomington, MN

This volume brings together the results of the conference held on the occasion of the 1100th anniversary of the Bonn Treaty of 7 November 921, during which the West Frankish King Charles III and the East Frankish King Henry I met on the Rhine near Bonn. The contributors take this particular meeting of rulers as their starting point, contextualise it as a stage in the disintegration of the Frankish empire and take an interdisciplinary, comparative look at other pre-modern summit meetings. The case studies range from the third pre-Christian to the 17th post-Christian century.
