Agriculture occupies an important place in the economy of India and contributes to one third of national income. Agricultural resources play a significant role in determining the socio- economic and cultural progress and prosperity of the rural population. Agricultural production, on a sustainable basis, depends on the judicious use of natural resources like soil, water, animal resources, crop/ plant genetic resources etc, adoption of appropriate technology management and prevailing socio- economic infrastructure.
