After being instrumental in saving the citizens of Arcadia during the Krackle invasion, identical twins Nika and Rika Ingersoll are offered appointments to the Regency's Uniform Services Academy as midshipmen. Eager to move on into adult life, they are sworn in and board a luxury liner for a relaxing voyage to Freedom Station before facing the rigors of Plebe Indoc. Only sometimes lightning really does strike twice. When seemingly pirates take over the ship, and the passengers face an uncertain-but assuredly horrible-fate, it's up to Rika and Nika, along with a handful of their fellow mids and cadets, to somehow figure a way out of their mess.
