Fools Island

The narrative tracks desperate situations involving the protagonist, Dan York, as he and his pilot struggle to survive and extricate themselves from their crashed, undetected aircraft, and the reactions of those immediately effected by his disappearance as the owner of a dynamic, sought after construction business. His beautiful wife, mother of their two children and commercial artist, a number of key employees, and outside persons maneuver to control the company. The story combines this parallel action with insight and humor, revealing the character and motives of individuals as circumstances force them into decisions effecting the future of the company and their own lives. The setting is the Midwest during the 1960’s, but the attitudes and values of the women and men dominating the action are as current as today’s headlines of business chicanery and personal ambitions, the honest and dishonest in timeless conflict. Through the tribulations the love and respect that binds the challenged survivors reveals itself by the actions the major characters are compelled to take, the story coming to a suspenseful conclusion in the last pages.
