Anne Noggle (1922–2005) was a portrait photographer whose unique vision has shaped the medium in ways that have yet to be adequately acknowledged. Her self-portraits, her portraits of old women, and her abiding interest in women in the military are like nothing else in the history of photography. Suffusing her photographs are her profound joie de vivre, humor, and defiant humanism.
