After Lord Dennek's narrow escape, Haras and the other exiled venture back into Mencia in search of answers. Where do the necklaces' powers come from and why do King Trub and Dennek seek them? And what truth can be foretold by the mural depicting Lae's death?As their quest takes them to Haras's own village, he is faced with the damage his exile has done to his family.
