Fashioned by Memory

A native of the Blue Ridge of North Carolina, Juliet DeMarko's poetry has previously paid homage to those mountains and the people who live there. In this volume, she extends that love and reverence to Spain and Mexico and, in particular, for the Gulf Coast of Florida, her home for the last forty-five years. As in her previous book of poetry Blue Ridge Childhood, the poet chooses to write in a variety of forms, traditional and modern. Her poems are nostalgic, humorous, tender, and sometimes dark. Most importantly, the poems are deeply rooted in the mountain tradition of storytelling. All subjects are worthy of consideration. Below the surface of everyday happenings, the poet consistently find the story waiting to be told.
