FAMILY HAPPINESS follows a young girl, Mashechka, and her love and marriage to the much older family friend Sergey. After a short courtship, the two marry and move to Sergey's home. Mashechka soon finds that married life and her feelings for her husband have little to do with the naive notions of marriage she had before her nuptials, and "family happiness" is elusive.
