Is it worth living forever, when you can only serve in someone's shadow? After a tragic car crash took his life, Nicholas 'Nic' Russell is thrust into a world of magic he never knew existed. Now a familiar to Ash Starnes, a childhood friend and wizard; Nic must learn how to become a proper servant and control his newfound powers with the aid of Ash's Uncle Jacob and his familiar, Shima. As wizard and familiar, Nic and Ash must learn how to get along and adjust to their new life. Together, Ash will have to help Nic come to terms with his death and leaving his girlfriend, Trisha, behind; all while dealing with a grim reaper who only wants to return what was dead back to death.
