False Start: A Record of Experiences

A former collegiate track athlete is in for a rude awakening when she finds her life in shambles prompting her to run to God. Kendall Smith, a young African American female, becomes the definition of awaking love before it was time. Despite being raised in a devout Christian family, she takes the road more commonly traveled by giving in to the pressures that come with being a young woman. It all starts with her first love in high school, in which she abandons her commitment to abstinence. Kendall and her boyfriend remain together through the majority of their college careers until things tumble downhill. From college life, parties, clinic visits, cheating and promiscuity, her relationship with her high-school sweetheart comes to a dysfunctional but necessary end; however, Kendall continues to entertain various men who prolong her bondage, preventing true freedom. Follow Kendall's journey as she navigates her life choices ranging from relationships with professional athletes to inner battles creating turmoil as she runs the race known as life. After experiencing life-altering events she comes to a point where she has to make a decision: to keep calling the shots or to submit to God. is based on the true events of Kendall's journey towards celibacy and rededicating her life back to God. Each of the men Kendall becomes involved with points her to various lessons that she shares with the reader. She touches on difficult subjects like how to let go and trust God when you do not understand His full plan, remaining content while being single and guarding your heart. Kendall also provides insight on how to break soul ties and helps the reader to understand that growth happens outside of your comfort zone. Kendall passes along the painful, avoidable lessons that she has learned as a young naïve prideful female. She serves her testimony in this relatable, eye-opening, honest yet hopeful book. She has blossomed into a Kingdom woman willing to share her story in hopes to break the cycles still prevalent in many of our young ladies.
