The epic story of the Hebrew nation being freed from the torture of Egyptian slavery, their crossing the Red Sea, the grand leadership of Moses and Joshua and the people's failures, rebellion and wanderings some 3500 years past has long been a prized subject for literary study and artistic impression. But did the Israelites ever really triumph, and if so when and how was this victory won? This work celebrates the Israelites' ultimate triumph, but suggests it was not at the time and place of customary reckoning.
