Emma meets Josh in the city where they are both Journalists, but they have both been fired and Emma is going home. He joins Emma's journey and finds a troubling situation in her home, as he realizes Emma takes the blame for every incident. He wonders if her mother has PANDAS, an autoimmune disease that often brings out cruel traits in a person who is normally kind and caring and Emma is the person who receives the backlash of the disease. Though there is the question whether their love can last through the turmoil Emma endures, they are secretly married and the problems escalate.
