This work considers the figure of Melusine and narratives in which she plays a part, particularly those post-dating the Middle Ages. To show how the figure of the fairy relates to larger concerns, the book explores the ways in which Western literature and aesthetics have dealt with the miraculous, supernatural, and magical.
