Drinking From the Saucer" is a black woman's memoir of the blessings showered upon her that caused her cup to overflow. It's the story of a life that could easily have gone downhill, but she prevailed despite the odds. Life, for her, was not to be interrupted and she excelled as she wrestled her destiny from a vicious assault, to ground roots diplomacy, and on to grand diplomacy. The lessons she learned about life were sometimes brutal, and she recounts them in amazing detail. The happiness she knew when growing up in one room with her grandmother ended abruptly and what should have been a bright, new beginning turned into a nightmare that lasted for nine years. But then the heavens opened and blessings came down. Her memoir takes the reader on a a fascinating journey from the Hoosier State to the Peruvian Andes, to East Pakistan, to France, and then to the journey of advanced diplomacy: Haiti, Tanzania, Liberia, Swaziland, Panama and the nation's capital.
