This is my second book of poetry, the first being "Poetry in Motion" where much of the early poems were written on trains going to and from meetings and conferences... hence the title 'Poetry In Motion'. In addition to the poems in my latest book "Dreamland" I have also included two short pieces which I hope the reader will agree are complementary to the overall collection. The book covers a wide variety of subjects ranging from the feelings expressed by me when visiting my home town and the people I met there, to a number of poems on love and romance, friendship, the seasons, as well as pieces on theatre and music. Here I look back to teenage days to when my cousin, friends and I decided to form a beat group and of the night we were given the chance to play support to the Bee Gees in our hometown. What a night and what a thrill that was for young people like ourselves and certainly a time to remember for all of us.Other poems look at travel and other aspects of life itself, some happy, some humorous, as well as others looking at some of the various problems and pressures facing people in society today.eg care in old age and how alcohol can become a problem in peoples lives when they are struggling with issues, in this case unemployment after a successful career.Being a bit of a dreamer myself, I thought the title "Dreamland" was quite apt for the book, and I decided that the poem by the same name would also be the first one to be featured in it. I thought it was a relevant choice too in that most of my poems seem to come to me either in the middle of the night or upon wakening. There is no doubt therefore that a pen and paper at the side of the bed has proved to be an invaluable resource. It certainly has been for me.
