Reeling from recent personal and professional drama and haunted by traumas from childhood and combat, Secret Service Agent Hugh Griffin begins a busy but welcome new assignment in the Washington Field Office's Protective Intelligence Squad where he investigates threats against those the Secret Service protects. While there, a terrorist behind a recent attack on the president overseas orchestrates a second attempt on the president's life. On the heels of this attack, a psychotic murderer and would-be assassin who believes he is a soldier of God escapes from the mental hospital in California where he has been confined for more than twenty years and disappears, leaving more bodies in his wake. He reemerges and, with the help of an old friend, heads east to fulfill his vengeful destiny as Griffin and his partner, Mojo, try desperately to determine who his next target will be and stop him before he kills again.
