An innovative and influential acoustic guitar player on the scene in the 1960s, 's style was diverse and wide-ranging, drawing on myriad strains of music from and to , , and pure , often performed in inventive tunings. This diverse approach means 's albums were usually wonderfully varied affairs, put together almost like little suites, and 1979's is a perfect example, with putting on a showcase, even branching out on the sarod and the oud, two instruments he was fascinated with, making this a fine introduction to 's mid-period work. ~ Steve Leggett
