The mines of Mir Town were abandoned over twenty years ago. The mainland Council had understood the economic turmoil their decision would cause, but the unexplainable "sickness" that affected the miners had come with too much political pressure. In the nearby village of Rhyol, Kavriel Soelle is plagued by dreams he can't remember. While the conflict with the southern Ay'vol Nation grows more intense each day, the military hero General Saire comes to his village wanting to lead an expedition into those forgotten mines that are far from the Borderland fighting.
