The use and overuse of antimicrobials over the past decades has led to the development of antibiotic-resistant pathogens. This handbook features chapters dedicated to the discussion of specific pathogens, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE), and their clinical presentation and treatment. General precaution to prevent the development of drug-resistant infections is also discussed.
