The author was the youngest of the seven offspring of Bud and Bertha DeLapp. The teachers knew the last four as Glen, Perry, Jean, and David, but they grew up branded by neighbor Granny Renner as Bub, Babe, Dump, and Chip.All he ever heard as a kid was "When are you ever going to grow up?"
